A shared passion for wine and the wine country lifestyle brought Jason and Laura Ray together. A passion to share wine and the wine country lifestyle inspired them to create Stråla Vineyards. A beautiful combination of fruit from select vineyard locations, attention-to-detail winemaking and the commitment to the highest quality wines is the result.

Jason Ray
Jason Ray found the passion for this career due to growing up in the small farming community of Orcutt California located in the Santa Barbara County central coast region. His journey began with a foundation in Crop Sciences and Ag Business at CalPoly San Luis Obispo, leading him to establish Napa Select Vineyard Services in 2005. What started as a vision has grown into one of the region’s most respected vineyard management companies, overseeing more than 1,500 acres across Napa Valley and Sonoma’s most distinguished vineyards.
His hands-on leadership extends beyond the vines to the heart of the operation: a year-round team of 300-450 dedicated employees whose well-being remains his priority. Under Jason’s guidance, Napa Select Vineyard Services has earned its reputation through an unwavering commitment to excellence and deep understanding of each vineyard’s unique terroir. Jason knows where the good fruit is and that good vines make great wines!
Laura Ray
After growing up in a Swedish family in Wisconsin, Laura set out for the West coast. She was in the medical field when the wine industry found her. Laura’s path to wine began with a defining moment: winning a prestigious wine tasting competition alongside Master Sommeliers in 2011. This achievement led her into the specialized world of French cooperage, where she developed extensive knowledge of how barrel selection influences a wine’s character.
Together, Jason and Laura bring an extraordinary blend of expertise to Strala Vineyards. Jason’s profound understanding of vineyard management and terroir combines perfectly with Laura’s refined palate and barrel expertise. Their intimate knowledge of exceptional vineyard locations – from soil composition to microclimate – allows them to select fruit that meets their exacting standards.

Our History
2013 – 2014
Laura and Jason met at a famous and local favorite Napa Valley restaurant through a mutual friend and winemaker. They then started Strala Vineyards and began production with a small batch of 300 cases of red blends and cabernet.
2015 – 2019
Strala Vineyards released in consecutive years to their portfolio the Sparkling wines, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.
2018 – 2019
Strala Vineyards released their first vintage to sell direct to consumers to show everyone their passion and to give them a deep understanding of of how each wine is made. Strala partnered with Brasswood cellar to open up our cellars to visitors in napa valley.
2017 – 2019
Jason and Laura had two beautiful Rays of light added to their life with the birth of Beau and Leo
